Splatterbox is the psychedelic brainchild of childhood friends, Freddy Todd and Grant Kwiecinski (GRiZ). They grew up together in metro-Detroit, Michigan and went to middle and high-school together, playing in band and marching band and developing a taste for electronica early, before anyone else in their grade, through the likes of psychedelic drum and bass kings Squarepusher and Aphex Twin. They... both started producing electronica in 2004 on Fruity Loops Studio. As time went on, GRiZ moved on to a MacBook and Reason + Ableton, as they both went their separate college and life routes AND as they both got more dynamic & crunk, more refined & mature, and overall, just better producers. Staying close friends, FT and GK have joined forces to fuse their two brands of lazer crunk glitch hop dubstep soul funk slop to create a dynamic production duo in the studio and a force to be reckoned with on stage. Look out for SplaTTerboX this summer as they have an EP set for release some point late Spring or mid Summer as well as bookings filling up (their debut Chicago show is at the EOTO afterparty at the Kinetic Playground May 7th wsg Prophet Massive (Jason Hann's DJ set, of EOTO and String Cheese Incident). |
